Coach Development

Club Coaching

Ipswich Basketball Association places a strong emphasis on the development of coaches involved in our system.

As part of our commitment to coach development, IBA created the ‘Club Coach Manual’ as seen below. This document is a useful resource for all coaches beginning their coaching journey with Ipswich Basketball.

The ‘Club Coach Manual’ covers a range of topics, including:

  • Code of Behaviour
  • The Coach
  • Development Priorities & Planning
  • Coaching Opportunities
  • IBA Player Pathway
  • Common Rules Summary
  • Common Basketball Terminology

** SEE BELOW FOR OUR CLUB COACHES MANUAL **

Representative Coaching

Ipswich Basketball Association have also developed a representative style of play and curriculum, to be known as ‘The IBA Way’. ‘

The IBA Way’ details the priorities of our representative program from a playing, coaching and development perspective and aligns our rep program from U12 to NBL1.

‘The IBA Way’ covers a range of topics, including:

  • Aims & Expectations
  • The Training Environment
  • Offence
  • Defence
  • Player Development

'The IBA Way' will be implemented across the representative program at the commencement of the 2021/22 SQJBC cycle.

‘The IBA Way’ can be made available on request by contacting Basketball Development Manager, Mitch Langford - development@ipswichforce.com.au
